    NOTES (1) I don't have some albums of Thomas Mapfumo (original issues of some titles), so I don't know about release years and contents of some albums. I'll welcome any information to correct this discography. (2) I don't know about a detail of singles of Thomas Mapfumo. But it is clear he released so many singles, I'll update them one by one.

    Thomas Mapfumo was born in in Marondera, Zimbabwe. He sang with various bands including The Zutu Brothers, Hallelujah Chicken Run Band and the Acid Band before forming The Blacks Unlimited when he and Jonah Sithole merged their bands in The band developed a style called chimurenga mus read more.

    4, fans get concert alerts for this artist. Did not go to the event. This was because Thomas Mapfumo was not performing rather it was another band performing to celebrate Thomas' birthday. I feel cheated because this event was originally advertised as one that Thomas was going to perform. I was.

    Any artist as important as Thomas Mapfumo certainly deserves a career retrospective or three, and the selection on Chimurenga Forever does give a good sense of the varying moods of Mapfumo's music. What this collection does not do, alas, is give any sense of the development of Mapfumo's style.
